CBP Busts Boatload of Mexican Illegals Near Newport Beach, California

Numerous illegal aliens were taken into custody by U.S. authorities during a maritime bust in Southern California waters over the weekend.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) just released footage of the incident, which unfolded near Newport Beach on Saturday.

CBP Air and Marine Operations intercepted a suspicious vessel just south of the swank Orange County enclave.

“I got eight down here,” a CBP officer can heard saying in bodycam footage showing passengers pouring out of the below-deck cabin.

In total, 14 illegal aliens were taken into custody: 11 adult males, two adult females, and one juvenile male.

They all claimed to be citizens of Mexico.

“The crew safely transported all 14 individuals to the U.S. Coast Guard dock in Newport Beach, where one individual was evaluated and cleared by EMS,” CBP explained in a statement.

The illegals were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) custody for processing.

On the same day, a Mexican illegal with a prior conviction for human smuggling was reportedly arrested by USBP at the Balboa Fun Zone in Newport Beach.

The Mexican, who was reportedly awaiting illegals arriving via smuggling boat, was charged with attempted transportation of undocumented immigrants and illegal re-entry after deportation.

“According to court documents, the smuggling organization allegedly provided him a vehicle and cell phone, and he said each pickup reduced an $18,000 debt from his own illegal boat crossing by $1,000,” Matthew Seedorff of Fox Los Angeles reported on Tuesday, video from Kaotic
