The attack, which occurred at 9:15 a.m. in a shopping mall in the Los Alpes sector, also left two people injured by stray bullets. One of the victims was a street vendor who was shot in one of her limbs while working in front of the gym. According to authorities, the bullet could have hit a nearby gas cylinder, which could have caused a greater tragedy.

The other injured person has not yet been identified and was also taken to a medical centre. Fortunately, neither of the two has injuries that compromise vital organs.

The attackers, who were waiting for Sánchez, shot him repeatedly before fleeing the scene. Local authorities have launched an investigation, supported by security cameras in the area, to identify and arrest those responsible.

The mayor of Rionegro, Jorge Rivas, reported that a perimeter closure of the municipality was carried out in an attempt to capture the murderers, and asked the national government to reinforce the force in the region, given the growing wave of violence.
