Luciene da Silva Queiroz Barreto , a 39-year-old municipal employee, was brutally stabbed by her ex-husband, Eduardo Lima Barreto, around 6:30 am on Friday in the São Francisco de Assis neighborhood .
Luciene, who had been working as a sweeper at the Municipal Conservation Secretariat for six months, had just arrived at her workplace when she was attacked . Eduardo stabbed her three times: once in the stomach and twice in her chest. Despite being quickly transferred by her colleagues to the Jorge Júlio Costa dos Santos Municipal Hospital, known locally as Hospital do Joca, Luciene could not survive her injuries.
