Americanization is a kind of kitschification that gives every cultural value an American stamp, turning a mature language into slang, the waltz into jazz, a work of literature into a crime story.

Just as every Jew has a Christ complex, so every Negro has a white complex and every American a Negro complex. As a rule the coloured man would give anything to change his skin, and the white man hates to admit that he has been touched by the black.

What is more contagious than to live side by side with a rather primitive people? ... Even today the European, however highly developed, cannot live with impunity among the Negroes in Africa; their psychology gets into him unnoticed and unconsciously he becomes a Negro. There is no fighting against it.
Jung links this to observable American behaviors (e.g. expressive laughter, slang usage, loose gait, emotional style in music and movement), which he attributes more to unconscious mimesis or psychological absorption of Black influence than to any other factor (landscape, climate, etc). He contrasts this with Europeans, arguing that white Americans have absorbed primitive layers of the psyche through proximity, creating both cultural vitality and underlying tension/denial.
