Peth-Vadgaon: An HDFC Bank branch manager died on the spot, and his wife sustained serious injuries, after being struck by a speeding car near Minche (Taluka Hatkanangale) around 7:30 AM on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Raosaheb Shinde (45, resident of Miraj, Sangli district), and the injured wife as Asharani Deepak Shinde (40).

According to the police, Deepak Shinde worked as a branch manager at the HDFC Bank in Sangli. He and his wife had come to Vadgaon to visit relatives admitted to a hospital in Kolhapur. On Monday morning, the couple set out for Miraj on their motorcycle (MH 10, BL 1661). Near Minche village, the driver of an oncoming speeding car, Sahil Raju Fazal (resident of Yadrav), drove onto the wrong side of the road and rammed violently into their motorcycle.

The impact was so severe that the couple was flung into the air and landed in a nearby field. Deepak Shinde died instantly due to critical injuries to his chest and abdomen, while Asharani sustained serious injuries. With the help of local citizens, they were taken to the hospital. Shinde is survived by his wife and son.
