FLORIDA — Bodycam video shows the moment Pasco County deputies confronted an armed suspect inside a garage, leading to a gunfight that left one man dead and a deputy wounded.

The incident began Tuesday after deputies responded to reports that a woman had been shot during a dispute over property use.

Investigators say the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Aaron Rodriguez, shot two people before deputies arrived. One of the victims, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Body camera footage shows deputies approaching a garage where Rodriguez was believed to be hiding and repeatedly ordering him to come out.

Moments later, a gunshot rings out and deputies open fire toward the garage.

During the exchange, a K-9 handler is seen throwing down his weapon and applying a tourniquet to his leg after realizing he had been hit.

Authorities say Rodriguez was eventually shot and taken into custody.

Rodriguez, the wounded woman, and the injured deputy were all transported to the hospital. Officials say the deputy’s injuries were not life-threatening, and the K-9 involved in the incident was not hurt.

Authorities have not released the identities of the man who was killed or the woman who was wounded.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating the shooting, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
