In such a situation, news came again on Sunday evening that TMC councilor Anupam Dutta, standing in front of Paan's gumti, was shot dead. The attack has created a stir in the area. The incident took place in Agarpara of 24 Parganas. Police have arrested one accused. The video of the incident has also surfaced.
In the CCTV picture that surfaced, it is seen that the councilor along with his supporter is sitting on the scooty and talking to the paan shop owner. Just then a man wearing a blue striped T-shirt comes slowly from behind. Suddenly he escapes with a bullet near the ear. People standing around are stunned. The person standing near the shop runs after the accused. But till then the accused absconded.
According to the news received by the police, when Anupam was going to the park with his friend late on Sunday evening, the young man opened fire on him. He died after being shot near the head. Anupam Dutta is taken to the hospital to be saved but doctors declare him brought dead due to a serious head injury.
Naihati TMC MLA Partha Bhowmik said Anupam Dutta was a popular figure in the area. He accused the BJP of saying that it was a pre-planned murder. He said that Anupam Dutta had defeated a big leader of the saffron party.
