They skinned his head and gouged out his eyes with their bare hands. Such videos are made as proof of work for their superiors but are also intended to intimidate their rivals.

Cartel members are often long-term exposed to brutal violence, which causes numbness to suffering. They often see their victims only as objects, not as people. Rarely can anything like empathy be observed in them. They do not show it in court, and in prison, they usually continue cooperating with their cartel.

From an early age, survival takes priority over moral principles because they often grew up in poverty.
