The brain death of Alciele Almeida de Alencar, 31, was confirmed by her family on Tuesday afternoon (March 10). The young woman had been hospitalized in serious condition after being brutally beaten by her partner, Pedro do Nascimento Santana Júnior, in the municipality of Tomé-Açu, in northeastern Pará.

Alciele had been intubated and under intensive care since March 1, when she was assaulted with more than 100 punches. A medical team monitored the patient's neurological condition, which showed swelling in the brain. Given the severity of the injuries, doctors were already monitoring the risk of severe neurological complications, which ultimately led to the brain death confirmed on Tuesday.

The crime occurred on Sunday night (March 1), after an argument in a bar. According to the Civil Police, the aggressor hit Alciele with a beer can and then chased her as she tried to leave the place on the back of a motorcycle taxi. Pedro caused an accident, knocking over both vehicles, and even with the victim unconscious on the ground, he continued to assault her with dozens of punches to the face, in addition to threatening people who tried to help.

The aggressor confessed to acting with the intention of killing her. He was arrested on Monday morning (2) by the Military Police and is at the disposal of the Justice system. Alciele's family revealed that she had already filed at least three police reports against her partner in 2025, for previous assaults.
