A 62-year-old woman is fighting for her life after she was stabbed nearly 50 times in a shocking attack caught on video in Austria.
The incident took place Saturday January 22 in Carinthia’s Klagenfurt city, according to local reports.
Surveillance footage of the incident shows the unsuspecting woman trying to cross a street while pushing her bike — when a 28-year-old man of Armenian descent approaches her from behind and begins stabbing her repeatedly.
During the entire attack which lasted all in all roughly 40 seconds, the suspect can be seen repeatedly plunging his blade into the victim’s body over and over again before a bystander finally comes to the woman’s aid.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.
The culprit fled the scene of the crime but later turned himself in to authorities.
