In a conversation with VietNamNet reporters on the evening of February 12, the leader of the People’s Committee of Loc Vuong District, Nam Dinh City, confirmed that an incident had just occurred in which a man with a knife broke into a store and threatened a female employee working at the counter.

“Nam Dinh City police are cooperating with Loc Vuong District police to confirm the facts and resolve the case,” the leader of Loc Vuong District said.

Previously, a video was circulated on social media showing a man wearing a gray shirt and a helmet suddenly breaking into the store, pulling a knife out of his shirt and threatening a female employee working at the counter. The woman was so scared that she fell backwards, and the man ran over and hugged her tightly, holding the knife to her neck.

A person inside the store who discovered the incident ran out and shouted for help. Immediately after, a middle-aged man ran over and advised the man with the knife, but the man put the knife down and left.

Security guard NVK (born 1963, living in Nam Dinh City), who intervened to directly stop the incident, said: "The incident happened at around 4:20 pm on February 8. At that time, I was working outside and heard swearing coming from inside the store.

As I ran in, the manager ran out screaming. When I went in, I saw a man pointing a knife at customer service representative T."

"The situation was very dangerous because the man was holding the knife close to T's neck. So I had to be calm. At that time, I came in and spoke softly to calm him down, not to provoke excitement, and told him to come out and take his time if anything happened. When he saw that I was calm, the man let go, put the knife away, and left.

The incident happened so suddenly that the victim and I did not know who the man with the knife was. K added: "Based on my observation, the man was about 50 years old."
