Kathmandu. Prem Acharya from Ilam has attempted self-immolation in front of the Parliament building in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Kirtipur Burn Hospital in Kirtipur.

The hospital is currently cleaning the burnt area on the front of his body by applying water.

He has set himself on fire by posting on social media about why he had to self-immolate.

He wrote on social media –

I am an ordinary youth, an ordinary entrepreneur, an ordinary businessman, Prem Prasad Acharya Santosh (born 1 Bhadra 2043, Batan Suryodaya (Fikkal)-11, Kerabari, Ilam, Province 1) who was moving forward with colorful dreams and taking responsibility for his family, society and country. Today, even after crossing the age of 36, I have not been able to achieve any achievements from my actions. I seek permission to write on this social media today about the problems I faced while studying, working, doing business, going abroad for employment and running an industry in this country and the zero achievements I got from those problems. This is both an autobiography and a story of my failure.

When I was still a student, my father died of a brain tumor in 2067. I got married when my father was ill and after my father's death, I started working in various private schools and travel agencies in Thamel with my wife in Kathmandu. At that time, our eldest daughter was born. We tried to sell the house in Ilam Fikkal Bazaar that we had inherited from our ancestral property and build a house in Kathmandu and that's how it happened. We built a house in Budhanilkantha and started working in Thamel. Travel went well at first but gradually the loan market started to grow. Chinese citizens, whites and +2 colleges in Kathmandu became our customers.

Chinese tourists sometimes do not pay the money they promised, when we reached the middle of the trekking route, they said it was not so high here, they said there was no Chinese food here, etc., and they would try to find a way out and never give the full amount. Leaving the Chinese tourists, we took the +2 students to their own native district of Ilam, including Darjeeling and Sikkim. It would be no different from me and my friend Yubaraj Gautam bringing the concept of Tea Tourism to Ilam. But the +2 colleges in Kathmandu will never give the full amount. When we have to take a tour package worth 4-5 lakhs, we will give an advance of 3 lakhs, after getting that advance, there is no question of not doing business, after that we will start looking for a place on the road, the tour itself will be full of bitterness. On the road, the most complain comes about the food. Oh sir, the food on the road in our country is bad, the government of this country says it is like that, what can I do when there is no improvement.
