A serious motorcycle accident resulted in the death of a 17-year-old teenager on Monday afternoon ( 19/08 ), on the BR-316 highway , heading out of the capital, in front of the main square of Marituba , in the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB) . The fatal accident occurred around 4 pm , when the young man hit the back of the van and ended up falling under a semi-trailer . Traffic slowed down with a traffic jam of approximately six kilometers.

The motorcyclist, who did not have a license, took the motorcycle without the authorization of the person in charge. According to an investigation by the Military Police, witnesses who witnessed the accident and the van driver, the passenger van that was traveling intercity to Igarapé-Açu was picking up passengers at a stop under a footbridge. When the young man immediately hit the rear left side of the vehicle, the victim fell and was run over by a semi-trailer that was traveling in the adjacent lane.

The van driver and the ticket collector reported feeling the impact on the rear of the vehicle and then saw the truck pass by at speed. When they went out to check, they found the young man lying lifeless on the ground.

There is no information on whether the young man was wearing a helmet. The Military Police were called and managed to intercept the truck in Santa Izabel. The driver claimed not to have noticed the accident. He was sent to give a statement at the police station. "I believe he [the truck driver] did not even notice, because since it was a double trailer the accident occurred on the last truck," said Corporal Loureiro, from the Military Police (PM).
