A 26-year-old woman was arrested in Ilhéus, Bahia, on Sunday (18), after killing her husband and two children, aged 4 and 1, by poisoning them with lead shot. The crime took place on Saturday night, the 17th.
According to the police, the woman, identified as Kelly Mendes Barreto, said in the custody hearing that she put poison on her husband's plate because he constantly attacked her, and that, by mistake, her children ate from the same plate.
The suspect's husband was identified as Marcos Paulo Mendes Santos, aged 23; her 4-year-old son as Benjamyn Kleyton Mendes Barreto Santos; and her youngest daughter, aged 1, as Rosymary Mendes Barreto Santos.
After the crime, she hid in the Uruçuca region, but was found by the police and taken to the Ilhéus Police Station. Her arrest in flagrante delicto was converted to preventive detention on Monday (19).
Kelly will be charged with triple aggravated homicide.
