Fight between leaders of the Guerrerense Guard would have unleashed the massacre of Petatlán, Guerrero; the first in 2024 and which left 13 dead and more than 20 injured

In a matter of seconds, a cockfight in the municipality of Petatlán , Guerrero, held on January 6, became a massacre that claimed the lives of 13 people and left another 22 injured; The first reports pointed to a confrontation orchestrated by hitmen from “El Gavilán” against the group commanded by “El Ruso de Petatlán”.

The first statements from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) indicated that the men in command of “El Gavilán”, identified as Edilberto Bravo Barragán , managed to enter the municipality of Costa Grande de Guerrero and attacked their rivals for control of the region.

In this context, already a week after the massacre, videos were circulated to which Infobae México had access about the interrogation and torture that members of a criminal group carried out against the alleged “hawk” who would have allowed the entry of the hitmen of “El Gavilán” to Petatlán.

The “interrogation” is already strong: a man tied hand and foot on the verge of crying while the voice of the person recording questions him, “what do I say to the families of all those people who died in the palenque, do I tell them that you I left free because you cried for me? “All those people are dead because of you.”

Although the name of Petatlán is not mentioned in the video, it is presumed that the “ hawk ” allowed the entry of the trucks carrying the civilians who entered the palenque and unleashed the shooting.

In a second video - even stronger - several men are seen mutilating the limbs of the alleged “falcon” on a dirt road only to bury it, still alive, in a clandestine grave that they had previously dug at the site.

The first version of the Guerrero Prosecutor's Office was denied by Bertha García Garzón, attorney general of Petatlán, who stated that it was not a confrontation between rival groups, but rather a massacre committed against civilians who were at the cockfight.

The prosecutor also corrected the first figures from the FGE which reported six dead and 13 injured ; Among the murdered people were two women and two minors.

Regarding “El Gavilán”, it is known that he was part of the upper echelons of the Knights Templar until he created the so-called Guerrerense Guard on the Costa Grande in an alliance with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
