Body of missing young man is found dismembered in the Cassange neighborhood, in Salvador
The family recognized him as young Thiago Tavares dos Santos, aged 24, who disappeared after having a psychotic break.
The body of a 24-year-old young man was found dismembered on Thursday night (16), in the Cassange neighborhood, in Salvador. The victim was identified as Thiago Tavares dos Santos, aged 24, who had been missing since Wednesday (15), when he had a psychotic episode, in Cajazeiras, where he lived.
According to family members, Thiago Tavares left home aimlessly and his family was looking for him in Cassange, which is in the same region.
According to the Military Police, the body parts were found inside a bag, on the banks of Avenida Aliomar Baleeiro, known as Estrada Velha do Aeroporto, after the town known as Alto do Cajá.
According to Thiago Tavares' family, the young man had entered Cassange by mistake, where he was kidnapped by drug traffickers. In a video released on social media, on Thursday (16), the victim appeared sitting on the floor with his hands tied.
In a statement, the Public Security Secretariat of Bahia (SSP-BA) informed that it determined priority in the investigation with the objectives of finding and arresting those involved in this crime.
Policing in the region that encompasses the Cassange neighborhood and Estrada Velha do Aeroporto was reinforced this Friday (17). Public transport buses, which operate in the region, run normally.
The Municipal Department of Education (Smed) reported that, due to the feeling of insecurity in the town of Vila Verde, which is approximately 300 meters from the place where the body was found, the Laura Sales Municipal School suspended its activities and 226 students were left no classes this Friday (17).
The authorship and motivation of the crime are investigated by the 1st Homicide Police Station (DH), in the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP).
