On Friday evening, April 26, 2024, two drone strikes occurred at the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, resulting in the deaths of four Yemenis and the injuries of four others. The origin of the drones remains unidentified, and an investigation has been launched into the incident [NOTE: The attack was carried out with an Iran-designed "Murad-5" ("Shahed-101") drone which is frequently used by Islamic Resistance in Iraq.]

Khor Mor is a key gas field operated by the UAE-based Dana Gas in Chamchamal town, Sulaymaniyah Governorate. It provides fuel for Kurdistan Region's power generation plants. The field was established in 2007, and by supplying gas to the power plants in Chamchamal and Erbil, it produces 67% of Kurdistan Region's electricity.

The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the attack in a statement and said that it was in constant coordination with the Yemeni embassy in Baghdad to find out the cause and details of the incident. They said in a statement that the dead and wounded were:
