Two people died after a lorry loaded with fertilizer plunged into a ravine on Jalan Beluran-Paitan, today, believed to be due to brake failure.
Beluran District Police Chief, Superintendent Kasim Muda, said the 44-year-old driver and 25-year-old passenger died at the scene as a result of severe injuries.
He said that when the accident occurred at about 9 am, the lorry was traveling from Lahad Datu to Paitan.
"The result of the investigation at the scene found that the lorry carrying a load of fertilizer was suspected to have lost control before it skidded to the left of the road."
"As soon as it skidded off, the lorry was reportedly thrown into the ravine," he said in a statement today.
