A teacher died in a road accident near Namakkal after returning home on a two-wheeler after training as a polling officer.
Vandav Jayapalan (50) was working as a postgraduate teacher in Botany Department at Vennandur Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Namakkal District.
He left Rasipuram and was assigned the post of Polling Officer in Senthamangalam Assembly Constituency. He participated in the second phase training course for polling officers held at Akyambatti Vedaloka Vidyalaya School on Sunday.
After completing this training course, he was coming on a two-wheeler on the Namakkal-Senthamangalam road at 4.30 pm.
He was coming near Vedtambadi bus stand when a passing government bus hit him. Teacher Jayapalan was crushed to death on the spot.
Namakkal police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
