The matador José Alberto Ortega García is reported to be in very serious health, after he was gored in the face on the afternoon of February 10 during his performance in the Jorge "El Ranchero" Aguilar bullring.

The prognosis for his life and function remains reserved, and his family has requested his transfer to a tertiary hospital in the neighboring state of Puebla for his care.

Information to which this newspaper had access refers that Alberto Ortega is undergoing surgery to treat the injuries caused by the second bull he was fighting yesterday afternoon.

According to the medical report "Beto" Ortega presented fracture of the temporal bone of the skull base, with intracranial irruption and total fracture of the cogomatic arch, as well as dislocation of the mandibular condyle.

He was admitted to damage control surgery for packing and temporary hemostasis of the fracture. He also underwent jaw stabilization and mechanical oral fixation.

At the third level hospital in Puebla he underwent an exploration of the temporal bone fracture, which is considered a high risk procedure.
