Description
A road accident on Friday involving four vehicles near Bijapur Chhak under Borigumma police limits in Odisha's Koraput district killed seven people and injured many.
According to police, the accident involved two bikes, one autorickshaw, and an SUV. The SUV and autorickshaw skidded off the road and rolled down into a nearby field.
The Mahindra Scorpio SUV was seen colliding with a tractor from the side when the collision was caught on CCTV. On the one-lane road, the Scorpio can be seen approaching at a fast speed in the video. The car tries to pass the autorickshaw, which was allegedly carrying 15 people and collides with it.
The individuals with injuries were taken to a nearby hospital while three people died at the scene.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced an ex gratia of Rs. 3 lakh to the deceased's next of kin and expressed his deep sorrow over the accident.
According to an NDTV report, four people died while receiving treatment in the hospital, and three people died immediately after the fatal collision.
According to the report, the police in the village of Bijapur, where the accident occurred, have opened a case.
