Basic info: St. Louis County police officers responded to a call for service for a domestic disturbance Officers were advised that a male suspect was intoxicated and refusing to allow the caller to leave the residence. Officers were also advised he was armed with a handgun and threatened harm to officers if they responded to the residence. When the officers arrived on the scene, they observed him on the front porch of the residence with a handgun in each of his hands. The officers told him numerous times to drop the guns and also attempted to engage him in conversation to de-escalate the situation.
The suspect refused to comply, instead raising one of the guns toward one of the officers. Both the officers and the suspect fired their weapons. The suspect was struck by gunfire in the exchange. Officers immediately rendered aid to him. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment after the shooting. He was charged the next day with attempted assault of a special victim in the first degree and armed criminal action. A day after the charges were filed, he died at the hospital. Two handguns were recovered at the scene.
