At least three people were killed and 11 others injured after an individual reportedly detonated a hand grenade near the city courthouse in Tartus, Sept. 23. The incident is reportedly over a personal dispute.

Authorities will likely maintain heightened security in the area until investigations conclude. Officials may close roadways in the area, causing localized transport disruptions.

Avoid the area until officials give the all-clear. Follow all security personnel instructions. Allow additional travel time in the area.
