An amateur boxing event ended in tragedy in Ceará. João Victor Penha, 23 years old, died after suffering a knockout during a fight in Jericoacoara-CE, last Saturday (7/10). The fighter was hospitalized after receiving the blow, but ended up passing away on Tuesday (10/10).
João was competing in a fight at the UFC Jeri event, open to public. During the fight, the young man was hit in the face by his opponent and passed out.
According to the G1 portal, the fighter received his first care at the scene.
João was admitted to Santa Casa hospital, in Sobral, the following day, where he remained hospitalized until Tuesday, when he died. “After carrying out tests, the patient was declared brain dead, which also progressed to circulatory arrest,” declared the hospital.
The event mourned the death of João Victor and published a note of condolence on social media.
