The Dominican GLBT Volunteers confirmed on Wednesday night that the death of a young man found in the middle of a public thoroughfare in the Colonial Zone in the early hours of last Saturday was a suicide .

The organization reported, through a press release, that Wadimil Melo Díaz , 24, died of mechanical asphyxiation due to hanging carried out by him, as observed in a surveillance video that circulated on social networks.

"From the GLBT Volunteers we highlight the lack of police capacity to respond when investigating such an unfortunate death of the young Wadimil, who was a native of the community of Las Salinas de Bani, Peravia province", deplored the volunteers who at the same time culminated his note "thanking the Public Ministry for the support provided."

Last Monday, Diario Libre contacted the National Police, an entity that assured that it was investigating the case under the coordination of the Public Ministry and that, in addition, there was a person under investigation, whose name was reserved so as not to hinder the investigations.
