Benjamín Herrera had a calm and normal Sunday -September 18- until 7:18 at night,

when three bullets took his life on a busy corner of the La Carolina neighborhood in Cartagena.

He was 27 years old and now his name appears on the long list of hitmen victims so far in 2022 in the city. 

They called the young man 'el Benyi' and he lived in the Los Caracoles neighborhood, according to relatives.

 

A security camera recorded the moment Benjamin was killed. In the video he is seen when he arrives

on a motorcycle and parks in front of a fast food business. He had only been on the scene for a few seconds,

when a subject dressed in black appeared, with a firearm in his hand, pointed it at him and shot him. 

With the video it was known that the gunman was next to the business, talking on the phone and waiting for Benjamin.

'El Benyi' fell to the ground with his protective helmet on, he kicked as if trying to hit his assailant,

he wanted to stand up and face him, but the hitman kept shooting at him until Benjamín stopped moving. 

The recording was handed over to the Metropolitan Police, which will begin an investigation to clarify the crime.

 

That same video spread like wildfire on social networks where dozens of people speculate,rumor

and are amazed at the cold blood of the thug who fled on foot, but later a man on a motorcycle was waiting for him.

Benjamin's murder was the second of three that occurred on the night of Sunday, September 18, in Cartagena. 

The first was at 6:20 in Los Calamares, and the last was at 10 at night in La Candelaria.

Herrera was taken to a hospital, but police confirmed his death minutes later. He also confirmed that

he had a judicial record for personal injuries, in 2021, so he does not rule out a reckoning.

Among the hypotheses is that someone summoned Benjamín to that place to leave him as bait for the hitman since the young man lived far from that neighborhood and, apparently, had no family or friends in that part of the city.
