After a police chase, four fleeing car thieves were shot dead by agents of the Federal Highway Police (PRF). The action took place in broad daylight at Red Line, an important expressway which connects the municipalities of Rio de Janeiro and São João de Meriti. According to federal agents, police were monitoring the group along the expressway and began the pursuit after realizing that two vehicles, a Nissan Kicks and a Volskwagen Virtus, were stolen.
Also according to the Federal Highway Police, the suspects who were in the Nissan Kicks shot at the police, who retaliated. The vehicle was hit by several rifle shots and all four occupants were shot. In a video posted on social networks, it is possible to see the car entirely covered in blood and three dead criminals, while one of them appears alive begging to survive and asking the police not to shoot him anymore.
